1/4 and 8mm only? not sure what that refers to but if this isn't 1/2" bit capable I would pass at any price. JMHO.

Fred, sorry , 1/4 inch and 8mm collett size (router bits accepted) .

I will amend my post to better clarify.

There are 3 sizes, this being the smallest. The other two accept all three sizes of router bits.

Spoke to someone over the WC of Raleigh re: this tool.

Think of it as a Trim Router on Steroids. Great for Edge routing, some dadoes, etc....

Have Porter Cable DT bits (1/2 ) for Omnijig, so can't use there.

Good Entry level Festool item. Probably could negotiate @ 25 -50 off asking if interested.

Of all the Festool products, I find this one being one of the least useful for most of us. Unless you don't have a router, buying 8mm shank bits doesn't make sense. 1/4" bits aren't useful for plowing dados using a Festool router and the guide rail. They also make a newer trim/laminate router I would buy before this one.

I have the 1400 and it is a really good router (1/4", 8mm, 1/2"). Being able to line up the guide rail, fine tune and route dados for bookshelfs or other things is a big updgade over my homade plywood plate/rail I was using.
