Dewalt DW735 Purchase

My daughter found a DW735 planer, new, still in the box, for $475. The price seemed good to me. How'd I do?

yup!
That is a fair price - not a "smokin' deal" but they are still $550 to $650 new.
you need to look at the blades and determine if you need to purchase new ones...

Factor into your "deal" that you can't get a warranty on it because you don't have the purchase receipt. Also, really inspect the planer. "Still in the box doesn't mean "new in the box". If you have any suspicions, follow Hank's advice. You don't go into any detail, so you may need to purchase the infeed and outfeed wings. They are essential to minimize snype. Then calculate when you buy the package deal you get an extra set of blades.

Unfortunately it isn't that great of a deal- Home Depot had them new in the box with an additional rolling stand for $549 just a few days ago.

It is a very good planer though.
