Since I have not had one since moving to Hawaii, I ended buying a Cutech 8" spiral head carbide bit unit.
I tried it out a couple of various ways. Edges and flats.
I used a piece of Santos Mahogany 7" wide and was pretty surprised at the result very flat and smooth. It did not bog down. I am pulling 1/32 on the cut. Then, tried the Edge (be most of what it will get used for).
Same result .... flat and clean/smooth. This will be a great addition to the shop.
Honestly, I do not need a big unit as most of my workings are smaller. I can say if you are looking for a decent in between unit that is sub 500.00 this is it.
