Cat Tree

A friend asked me to make a cat tree for her, using real looking branches. Anyone know where to get branches like this, ready to work with.

Not sure cutting down a tree would work, no time to dry the wood, and don't want to bring hidden pests into the house :) Any thoughts?

I did a tree for a friend at work about 8 or so years ago using some cypress and cedar I had collected. You can also buy smaller logs from some folks that will be dry. I bought some cypress from Jack that was going to end up being ground up for mulch since it was too small to mill for lumber. Here's a few pics of the one I made and there's an album with more.

If you were closer, I have a cedar tree that I'm about to cut up. It broke in half during a freak rain, wind, hail storm last fall. It was about 30' high, so there is plenty to pick from. The bugs don't like cedar, so that isn't a problem.
