I have an open Saturday on June 9.
I will host this workshop at my woodworking shop. My son, Robert will be the guest instructor. He has years of experience working with carbon fiber in the auto/hot rod industry, the aerospace industry, and the prosthetics industry and Robert is a Level 2 Aerospace certified carbon fiber fabricator.
A portion of the class will be taught in his prototype shop - same address.
The workshop will focus on understanding and using carbon fiber.
This would be a seminar, demo and some hands on
This is not a typical fiberglass layup class. Carbon fiber, done right, can be so much more
This is an intensive class - Class will begin at 9 am and run until 4 pm with a working lunch provided, please let me know if there are any special dietary needs
Topics will include:
Weaves, weights and what to use when
Resin types and mixes
Carbon fiber layup
Forged carbon fiber
Vacuum bagging
Resin impregnation with vacuum
Curing technology and methods
Use of prepreg fiber and proper storage
Hands on will include:
- mold making
- forming carbon fiber parts using molds
- laying up sheets for max strength
- resin infusion
- making and using a vacuum bag
Use of carbon fiber to strengthen curved wood laminations
Methods to inlay carbon fiber
Safety glasses and nitrile gloves will be provided
