Can you identify this?

It's not really what I would call a woodworking tool, but I think it's wood related. A friend found this in the woods near Ft. Bragg. I don't know what it is. It has an "A" with wings on the handle. It's not the "Airborne" symbol but looks similar. I've searched the WWW and asked everyone I know to no avail.
Anyone know the name of this? Thanks

Don't know the name of it, but it looks like some sort of brush clearing tool. Appears to be an edged tool, with an ax on one end and a short sickle on the other. Good find ...

My guess is a Shingle Axe, the pointed end is use to punch the nail hole.

Ground down to a point it looks like it may work better than my hookaroon.

Plus I could use the axe side it to hack at stuff. Pretty cool thanks for sharing. I'll have to talk to my son and see if he can get me one.
