Built in imitation office base cabinets

Hi Experts!
I am building a wall-to-wall office build- in. Pretty standard base cabinets with upper shelves and a desk in the middle. My question is, instead of building full - on base cabinets, what are thoughts of just going floor to ceiling for the units on either side of the desk, using fixed shelves for support at near bottom, top, and two places in between. Then build a large frame designed to mimic what it would look like if done traditionally. Doors on bottom. Thoughts? Thanks!

Ha! Nearly identical to what’s in my head except you built base cabs. I’m just wondering about skipping the cabs and just framing two tall cabs to make them *look like there are base cabinets, but actually- none. Appreciate the pics.

Thinking more on this. By the time I’m through, the effect of base cabs will be there except it will be one wide cab instead of two, and it would not have a back. I would still use an integrated ‘ hanging strip’ each place where there is a fixed shelf, and at the top. Really the only difference is no vertical divider in the base other than the face frame, and no back.

I’m no expert for sure, so I welcome your comments.
