My wife wanted a book shelf for the top of the frig. There is that useless one at the back of the frig between the two cabinets, but she is too short to reach anything on it. The book case is for her cook books and it brings them a little closer to the front. the feet hang over the edge and fit with zero-extra clearance, so it won't slide off. there is a 3/4" X 3/4" support under the bottom and top shelves, and that bottom support pulls it just enough off of the top of the frig (which always seem to have a slight bow in the steel).
The ends are made from stained ash that has some nice figure to it. The two horizontal shelves are curly red oak. There is also a 1/2" X 4" X 32" support bar across the back to add extra stability and also so the books can't get pushed through to the other side.
