Currently whenever I cut, Sand I wear a 3M respirator, along with having power tools hooked to Shop Vac when possible.
Looking at 2 air filtration units, for the garage where I hack at wood.

Powertec AF4000 3 Spd 2 filters 1/6 HP

ShopFox W1830-3 3 Spd 2 filters 1/8 HP

Both small units, fit my space and budget. Anyone use these?

You may want to consider installing a HEPA filter in your shopvac. ~$40 at Lowes/Home Depot/Amazon: https://www.gore.com/products/cleanstream-wet-dry-vacuum-filters and see if you still need an air cleaner. Mine is over 10 years old and works great. The filters on regular shop vacs end up spraying the fine dust. These Goretex filters are re-usable pleated cartridges which allow lots of airflow but stop the damaging ultra-fine dust. The problem with running an air cleaner is they can take a long time to clear the air of the ultra-fine particles and you are fooled into thinking you're protected.

I. too, use a shop vacuum (Bosch) that I hook to my tools - I made sure that a HEPA filter was installed in the vacuum. For the amount of fine dust that I create I need nothing more than that.
