nice work sully.:icon_thum:icon_thum IMHO cedar is one of the hardest woods to turn. It's soft and brittle at the same time.:gar-Bi

I burned up the first lathe I ever bought turning cedar bed posts...

for a doll bed. :rotflm:

Last cedar I ever turned and last cheap lathe I ever bought.

I like your bowls and especially the flat top one. I can see the cracks but they don't bother me.

Have you tried super glue on cedar?

I've had exactly the same experience.

The color and figure of a Cedar bowl is always outstanding, but those hair line cracks always seem to
persist. From my perspective, it seems to be a by-product of the heat of friction as you sand. Slowing down the lathe and being very aware of any heat build up and stopping when you detect it seems to help a lot, but I haven't found a way to completely avoid the cracking.
