Re: 2011 Calendar Contest

For some reason my computer won't let me download my photo in the photo gallery, or in any of my galleries. Can someone please take this photo and submit it for me? It is a poplar crib I made for my newborn son, stained in walnut. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I hope you get them submitted, winners for sure. I would like to have your workbench no questions asked.

Re: 2011 Calendar Contest

My 1st pics had more than one item in them so I now realize they can't be used. I have since uploaded 3 more that should be OK to use. I noticed that they don't have a "# of Votes" space beneath them while all the other pics do. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

I believe you can have more than one item in a photo, it's just that only one photoper person (if you submitted several) can be chosen as a winner.

I seem to remember that you can't see the voting for your own pictures, or something like that. There was something I couldn't see for my own pictures in the past. It is not about how many items are in the picture.

Re: 2011 Calendar Contest

I don't believe that voting has been enabled yet. The submission deadline was pushed back until midnight tonight because there was such difficulty in uploading photo's. Last year they didn't activate the number of votes during the contest, am not sure if they will do the same this year or not.

Re: 2011 Calendar Contest

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, I looked and couldn't find it.

When voting does start ( still 9/12?) how does it work?
Is there a limit to the number of votes we can cast?
Like one per member or one per category?
No more than three per category?
Or do we just vote for the pieces we like and leave it at that?

I believe the software is set up to only allow one vote per member per category. You may not have to vote for all categories, though.

With voting due to start tomorrow, a question.

When I look at the submissions, each has a vote count above the photo. My submission does not.
Is that normal?

I'll call it to the attention of the Administrators, but I believe the voting option is disabled only for the viewer's photos on all submissions.

Re: 2011 Calendar Contest

Took some digging.

For some reason, the software was written to hide voting details from the submitter of the photo.

We'll look over it to see what implications it has and if we need to tweak it.

For now, you won't see your own totals and you can't vote for your own photo while the contest is enabled (well, thats how I read it anyway!)

It seems like we couldn't see anyone's totals last year - that the counts all appeared as "0". Something about not skewing the voting - if one piece because obviously a winner folks tended to stop voting. I can see both sides of that argument, but I still liked seeing them.

There are such awesome submissions this year- it will be difficult to choose! (and no, I didn't enter)

Voting will end soon, so if anyone hasn't voted, please go to the link and cast your ballots.
We also need to see some people buying calendars as well. With the cost of prizes, printing and delivery, we have a negative cash flow on this event. Let's see some support and actually BUY a calendar or 10 when they are available.. Advance orders will be discounted for further savings. Price TBD but look for it to be at or near last year's numbers.

I just finished the difficult task of voting for the Calendar Contest. There are so many good projects I wish there were more months in the year.
Voting ends at Midnight tonight. Please visit the Gallery & cast your votes.
Thanks to all who submitted photos.
