Dave I am looking for a tree. its a pine and the pine cones when they open up look like a rose. I dont think they grow here but I'd like to know , if you know that is.

My cousin has a large oak that was the victim of a lightning strike last night. It splintered the tree and removed an 8" wide strip of bark from the limb it entered all the way down to the ground. Is there anything that be done to to help keep this tree alive? I didn't know if a pruning...

So I got this fresh cut slice of a cherry trunk about 2' in diameter and maybe 4" or so thick. I am really not sure what I am going to do with it. But I assume I should seal it now. I was thinking of painting it with exterior...
I'm thinning out some natural area around the house, and trying to ID all of the trees before chopping them down. Can't figure one of them out, hoping folks can help point me in the right direction. I don't have any pics yet, camera's out of juice - will try to post some tomorrow night if need...
