Got any tips for making a simple vase?

Hi Folks, Looks like the wife needs some prezzies to hand out as a "thank you" gift for folks that helped out at a conference she recently attended. Fortunately, the emphasis is on hand made gifts. Since I have some small dogwood pieces I thought I'd try and make some vases. Then the wife...

    Simple Stool for Toddlers

Being a brand new grandparent, when I saw this simple stool in Popular Woodworking I couldn't let it go by without making it. Used some leftover QSWO from my Limbert Table. Nothing extraordinary here - just thought that you would appreciate the wood and simple lines - My grandson has a unique...

    Simple project: High fun return

For the last few years I have made and hung nesting blocks for solitary cavity nesting bees. This nesting is geared towards Blue Orchard bees. They are only active in the spring for about 6 weeks, but I get a lot of enjoyment watching their progress. It allows me to somewhat satisfy my urge to...

Simple Bandsaw Box Step by Step

In another post I was asked to show the steps to make these simple boxes. Here we go..... I've used a piece of 4 X 4 glued up scrap. You can see there are at least a couple of profiles that will work. I'll use another profile too. I draw the outlines for the cuts with a compass and...

    Simple idea

I'm sure a lot of peoples shops are as dusty as mine. Saw this in a magazine, tried it out, and love it so had to share. Simple CD spindle, screwed into a shelf, to store tape in. I'll be adding a couple more to sort my tape. Now I wish I had one large enough for a roll of duct tape.

Simple project, and long narrative, finished

Last Thursday after lunch I got an email at work from someone at our church inquiring if we had any crosses on hand or if we would be interested in making one for them on short notice. They had a delegation going to Haiti the following week to assist with building/re-building a church and...

    My simple little accidental box...

    Was practicing using my Leigh D4 that I just got on some through dovetails to get used to the jig. Used some sappy walnut. Decided not to waste the pieces, added some ambrosia maple and so I come up with this...I guess it will be a shop box...so much to learn!!! But was fun! :gar-La;

A Simple Box for Wedding Cards

A little background ... my sister is getting married in a few weeks and had asked me to come up with a box to use at the wedding for the cards that people give them. Simple bookshelf

This is a simple bookshelf I put together to fit under a window in our living room. The construction is very simple with a dado'd center shelf. I used BORG maple ply and edged it with ~3/8" red oak. The feet are arched but I put so much overhang on the shelves that it is hard to tell :)...

Just a couple of simple bowls

There's nothing special about these rather ordinary looking bowls but I thought I would post them anyway. The walnut bowl is from a small piece of walnut that Gary (NC Turner) gave me. It was almost as tall as it was wide. The final dimensions of the bowl are 4 5/8 x 3 1/4. I call it my sunrise...

    Simple Shop Improvement: Shop Boxes

Got this plan/idea from Woodworking Magazine a short while ago. Actually, I more less passed over the article at first ... then Mike (Shamrock) built a set and I saw them in person. I really liked the idea and thought they might work good instead of basic saw horses I have. They are "shop...
