Do any of you that offer lumber for sale plan to bring any to the picnic? I'm in need of some 4/4, 5/4 and 12/4 poplar. Not large quantities, just want to restock.

I'm looking for a source for some lumber species that Rick normally does not carry.I don't need alot but Beech and Purple Heart are two that come to mind right at the moment.I need about 5 bd ft of 5/4 of each.African Blackwood is another one but I need spindle blanks of it...
We found a man in the Forest City area who has a portable saw mill. He cut several trees for us and we were pleased with his service and prices. If anyone is looking for someone to cut downed trees into useful lumber let me know and I'll share his contact information.
Snagged this today. Planks are 4 x 36" about 5/8" thick. Very dense / heavy. Had oxidized to a nice brown but was tan when I ran a plane over it.
I took a look over at hobbithouse and it sort of seemed like acacia, but the end grain did not look right.
Any thoughts?

Scott aluded to this in his recent post and I want to add some details. We bought a large quantity of zebrawood and a lesser amount of African mahogany (possibly sapele, but to be honest, I haven't seen it yet) off Craigslist. We plan on hauling it to Scott's as early as next week, and will be...
So I've heard a few different approaches... I'm not talking about skip planing or milling a log, I'm talking about when I bring in rough cut lumber to the shop... what to do to square it up...
I've heard to let it sit in the shop for a few days before working it... What do you do if your shop...
I live in Raleigh, and recently acquired about 220' of Douglas Fir 4x6's. I had to drive out of state to buy them, and had no idea how green they would be. Unfortunately, I can't really use them until the MC has significantly diminished, at least down to 15%, and I'm looking for a place that...
I have black locust lumber for sale.
It came from a property in Western NC from 1 to 2 large trees. It was air dried as rough cut lumber in a barn for 5 years. I surfaced it 10 years ago but have not used much and want to sell.

If you wouldn't mind telling us where you buy your lumber from and why you buy it from the source you do, it would help those who do sell lumber do a better job.
Hello all,
I have to ask, what is the going price of Holly Lumber in the Carolinas? I live in Pittsburgh PA and have a place in Myrtle Beach and of course I'm always driving between the two during the year and thought about the Holly Lumber because recently I had to acquire some and it's out...
