Not sure if this is the proper forum, but, here goes anyway!
My solar kiln is empty at the present and will probably be for some time. If any NCWW member has any green lumber you'd like to dry, you are welcome to use the kiln. No charge for using it.
I've dried a LOT of cypress and 600bf...
I live in Raleigh, and recently acquired about 220' of Douglas Fir 4x6's. I had to drive out of state to buy them, and had no idea how green they would be. Unfortunately, I can't really use them until the MC has significantly diminished, at least down to 15%, and I'm looking for a place that...
Scott Smith, called me tonight to remind me I have a little over 500 Board Foot of 4/4 Quarter Sawn Red Oak out at his place. I sawed this Red Oak last winter form a few nice butt logs before I took my saw mill to my father in law in southern Illinois. I vaguely remember taking the lumber to...
I have some excess kiln dried oak that I would like to liquidate. It is 4/4 with widths of 6", 7", and 8". I have quite a bit of the 6" width, and less of the 7" and 8". Most of the boards are 10' long, but some are shorter or longer. Most of the boards are clear and free of defects. Most of it...
Hi All,
A few months back I had some tress sawn into boards and wanted to have it dried in a kiln. I live in the Wake Forest Area and was looking for somebody who would be able to do that. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Thanks a bunch,

Back in October I posted a note on this forum looking to locate someone who could dry my white oak for me. Well, Kyle Edwards contacted me and offered to run the wood through his kiln. Yesterday I drove up to Iron Station to collect the finished product. The wood looks great! Kyle is a great...
A local lumber wholesaler grades kiln dried lumber in their warehouse and sells the cut off as fire wood. I have found these scraps to be great for small projects and can also be used for smaller pieces like drawer parts on large projects. This saves having to cut small pieces out of longer...
I made a trip to Old Sparta NW of Greenville, NC today to pick up some maple from Russ Denz a friendly NCWWer who unfortunately will be leaving us later this year for AZ. Russ listed his wood (and other stuff) in the North Carolina Woodworker classifieds. He is selling some really nice lumber...
I think I would like to get some of the white oak from the property dried so I will be able to use it for the trim in the new house.
I haven't been able to find anyone to dry it here in East TN, at least not yet. Any one have any suggestions?
NOTE: I use the word "kiln" here to indicate a structure/device that can control the environment enough to get good results when drying wood. It can be heated or not (I will give 3 inexpensive ways I have heated it). It can function during various seasons. It is not comparable to professional...

Hi Y'all, I am wondering if there is anyone that might have or know of a place where I could find some kiln dried 2"x6"'s 8' & 10' long. I was thinking of replacing my deck with locust as it has rot resistant quality and bug resistance. I would only need to smooth one side and was thinking of...
Well, since I normally work with stumps and the butt ends of logs and trees, and slabs that I cut in the neighborhood of 3" thick and up, I'm going to try something.:widea: I've been reading and attempting to digest the various articles and dissections of building a solar kiln. I'm gonna attempt...
