    1st hollow form

My 1st attempt at a hollow form. It was a bit of trail and error and the inside could use some work. A catch threw it completely off the lathe toward the end (you can see where it hit the tool rest on the top lip).Claro Walnut 3" high, 7 3/4 wide with the opening 3". This and all my turnings so...

    Hollow Form?

I have always heard two things on how to turn a bowl correctly. #1 leave no signs of how you attached it to the lathe. #2 Finish the inside just as good as the outside. How do you sand and finish a hollow form where you cant get to it? Thanks, Jeff

    Walnut Hollow From

After blowing out my first tall hollow form I had to give it a second try. I used my homemade hollowing tools and am very happy with them. I have found that I need to hone the edges occasionally to get better cuts. This HF is 7" tall and 4" in diameter. The hole is 1" diameter and the walls...

    hollow mortise chisel

I just got my new drill press. I was really wanting a dedicated mortise machine, but my old drill press died first so I had to replace it first. My question to you guys is, what do you think about the bolt on hollow mortise chisel. Should I wait to get the machine or go with bolt on. Thanks, Jody

    Tall Cedar Hollow Vase

This is a Cedar vase that's hollowed all the way through. It's 19" tall X 5.5" dia. at the globe. I saw this technique in a British turning magazine and thought I'd give it a try and share it with you folks. It was turned into a cylinder and then parted in half just above the globe. The recess...

    First Hollow Forms UPDATED PICS

Other than some practice a while back, this is the "real" first hollow form that I've done. Not near done, but figured I'd better stop for the night since it hadn't blown up or flown from the lathe. Hopefully I can turn this into something. This was all made with the hollowing rig my...

How do you hollow a box?

Hello all, I am in the process of trying to hollow out a box, inside diameter about 2" and 3 1/2" deep. What tools do you use and what procedures? I have tried 6 different gouges plus a tool using the CI0 cutter. They are all scary. The wood is semi-dry cherry. Thanks for any suggestions. Bear

    Ever have that hollow feeling?

Here's a new hollow form I finished today. I roughed out this blank back in September and finally got a chance to use my hollowing jig to finish it. It's made from a 12X5 piece of spalted maple. Sorry for the terrible pics. I have to get a bigger photo tent. :gar-Bi

    Delta hollow chisel mortiser 14-650

I just broke off the tip of the 1/4 inch drill bit on my Delta mortiser. Where can I find a new drill bit? I looked at this thing and it looks rather unique so I don't think a long drill bit will work. Any ideas out there? Mark
