Here is a quick shot of some of the latest calls to come out of my shop. They are more of my red oak burl, osage, and the crow call is bocote. For my gloat I got a check this week for an article I wrote for Woodturning Design Magazine on how to make a turkey calls, that are for sell this month...
Hey guys, any of you hanging out here in the woodturner's forum section, turn turkey pot calls? I am looking for some wooden soundboards and was wondering if you had any good sources or if any of you produce your own?
I understand the simplicity in producing one's own, however sometimes going...
I put together a ceramic call this week and it sounds and looks great. I wll be making many calls using the ceramic surface. It plays as easy as slate with just a touch higher pitch and is very loud if need be. I put this one in a rhododendron burl / purple heart pot that looks great. I have...
Here are a couple pots that had a flaw in the wood, so I didn't sell them. The pot on the left is dogwood and it had a crack at the rim that I had to fill to save it. The crack was caused by what apears to be a 22 bullet that I didn't know to be in the wood until I mounted the blank and turned...

I did a lot of research and 'think' I have them reasonably tuned too! Anyway the customer will do that, he's the duck...
Here are a few more pots I just completed. This time of year tends to see me making more calls than bowls. They help me buy toy's to turn bowls.

I have a friend that would like for me to turn a game call? Specifically a goose call. Doing some research looks like it turns similar to a pen, with several kits available.
Has anyone ever turned any before?
Are there any considerations to produce the correct sound?

Dave O made a suggestion in a post regarding the "Bow Clamp" last week.
You said to use a 3/4x3/4 block to separate then clamp two pieces together. One to remain straight and the other to bend. Mark a straight line then cut on the line after removing the clamps.
What length clamp is this...
