    Wood Movement vs Bowtie Inlays

I think you're way over thinking this. I always used homemade bowtie inlays in all the farm style tables I built purely as decoration and my customers asked for them too. It adds to the piece. You will not create an issue by using them. Go for it. Red

Best wood for painted face frame

I would go with soft maple. It takes paint well and is hard enough to take a beating plus it's affordable. Red

    Recommendations for decent screws

McFeely's square drive screws. In the past 25+ years I have never had an issue with stripping the square drive and only broke maybe 5 screws in that time. Good stuff. Get yourself several boxes of different lengths and you will be good to go. Red
