Didn't know Sycamore
Since didn't know what sycamore looked like went searching and came up with these two sites:

Check out NZAPP1's gallery http://www.ncwoodworker.net/pp/showphoto.php?photo=8525 he has turned some of Jeff's Sycamore. I have a hunk waiting on me to get the inspiration to give it a spin. I've turned quite a few pens out of curly Sycamore and love it.

Yeah Alan is right QS Sycamore is right cool and some people do call it American lace wood. Flat sawn it's pretty bland, but QS is completely different, it's one of the very few species that benefits in appearance when QS. I have a few sample pics in this thread:

I would like to make a hall table for my foyer out of QS Sycamore I just like the way it looks.
Yesterday I couldn't Even spell woodwerker, Today I are one :-D
