Wheels Layout for Mobile Table Saw Base

I am been wanting to build a mobile base cabinet for my table saw along the lines of this http://lumberjocks.com/projects/59729

and I know others here have done or wanted to do similar things

BUT

one of the things that had held me up is the wheel system and I wanted extra clearance to make it easier to move it in and out of the shop and in and out of a cargo trailer from time to time

and this seems like this situation could work with the big wheels centered under the saw and then be able to have levelers built in to the left and right side of the cart to lock it in place level no matter what kind of surface I was on inside outside

plus being able to rotate it 360 degrees easier when loaded down

so this is my brain storm and I wondered if anyone had feedback or have thought about the same thing before

I like the idea of the large middle wheels. I've pushed a cart like that for many miles over the years and they work fine. You would still need the corner wheels for smooth moving and you could rig some sort of hinged bar with levelers on it to level and lock the tool where you want. the larger wheels will help get over any floor irregularities that would each a 2" wheel. Make sure you get a wheel covering that wont develop a flat spot.

yea I know I still will need 4 casters to go with the other two wheels..... I just wondered why I have not seen any other woodworking carts designed this way.... I wondered if I was barking up the wrong tree

I am also trying to decide if I am going to make the base in one unit or in 3 units.... I am figuring making three boxes and bolting them together will let me change the storage easier if I need to in the future without having to rebuild the whole thing

I don't see why the Northern Tool-style mobile base wouldn't work (with casters AND levelers on the 4 corners) for a flat floor and to get over small bumps in a floor but, depending on the angle of the trailer ramp, I'm not sure the lumberjocks cabinet will allow you to roll the cabinet up (or down) the ramp. Unless you allow yourself enough clearance on the ends, the length of the cabinet itself may prevent you from getting it up or down the ramp. You might have to design the cabinet so that the wheels on the ends are 6" or more off of the floor which kind of defeats their usefulness on a flat floor or design them so that you can add/remove them when trying to move the cabinet up a ramp. Before building the cabinet, I would construct a test base to see what kind of clearance I needed on the ends to make it up a ramp. Just my $.02.

Is that a grease fitting on the HF caster? I've never seen a grease fitting on a caster before.
