Flag box for my GIL
Below are images of the Walnut flag box I made for my GIL. I finished it with 4 coats of High Gloss Waterlox, which I thought worked really well.

Re: Flag box for my GIL
Alex, the joints look tight as a banjo string. Did you spline the corners? You cannot go wrong with Waterlox.
The thing that holds up all my woodworking is simply getting started.

No, I just used glue. I did have some gaps, but fills those in with more glue and saw dust.

Re: Flag box for my GIL
That is a beautiful box. I have thought about making one to put a few flags in. I have a POW flag my grandfather had. I believe he bought the flag. He was a POW in the Bataan Death March although he died when I was very young of Alzheimer's. It would be nice to make some of those boxes though to display his flags in rather than the box they are in now. If you have any plans you might have drawn up that could make this easier I would enjoy seeing them if you are willing to share. I know these are tricky I tried to make one a few years ago and failed miserably. Good job and great work I really enjoyed seeing your pictures. They have re-inspired me to attempt to make these boxes again.
