Turning dogwood
We received the box of dogwood yesterday (thanks, Dave!).
Milissa is busy with another EBay auction. She designs our auctions, and right now we have the highest bids on EBay for antique chess sets...Indeed, we have Highest Bid #'s 1, 2, 3, and 4!!! If this sort of bid analysis interests you, go here and then click for it to sort by Highest Bid: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/game...t=most-watched You can search by anything, of course, and also have the results sent to your email. I have wondered if layouts like the ones Milissa uses might sell woodworking products?
Anyway, I tried some dogwood out.
Excellent wood! This was one of the lighter weight of the samples, as I wanted to use what might be the punkiest of the wood samples as a trial. Nonetheless it turned very, very well. See pics.

Re: Turning dogwood
I made a couple of mallet heads from dogwood. Tough and lightweight.
Always be yourself because the people that matter don't mind, and the ones who mind, don't matter.

Re: Turning dogwood
I've made a few chisel handles from Dogwood. Beautiful wood.
BillI'll gladly tell you how I do something. Just please don't confuse that with the right way to do it, and almost certainly not the only way..gif)

Re: Turning dogwood
Delicate work there, Alan. I like the grain on the side of the top.
The thing that holds up all my woodworking is simply getting started.

Re: Turning dogwood
The dogwood is a good wood. If anyone has a source, I would buy some.
