Steve, thanks for the followup as I was very curious whether this would occur with another browser.

I wish I could be of more help, but I have no access to any Mac systems. However, you may wish to review the links I posted above as they suggest a number of issues known to negatively impact the way Flash interacts with installed browsers on the Mac OS X platform. Some of the biggest issues revolved around application install locations and third-party browser add-ons.

Actually the same thing happens on a windows machine. The problem is not even directly flash related. There is a bug in placing the flash movie in its place holder in the HTML.

Ok, now you've really piqued my curiosity now that you say it can be reproduced in Windows. What did you have to do to reproduce it? I've tested on 3 Windows machines and at least 4 different browsers and all have, as yet, yielded the expected behavior with and without Flash enabled. The only thing I haven't tested is Linux, but then I don't have Flash installed on my Linux workstation.

It is amazingly difficult to debug something that will not misbehave!
