Finished Ram
Good to have the forum up again, missed checking it all the time to see what was going on with everyone. I have finished several projects recently and will be posting pictures. Here is the finished ram carving. I decided to paint it because it just did not have enough pop to it.
The base coat was white on the body and gray on the horns. Must have been at least 12 to 15 coats of glazes added to the body. These were variations of ochre, sienna, umbers and grays....same for the horns. Matter of fact I am still touching up here and there. The strange thing about the glazes is as the light changes so does the color of the carving. Hope you folks like it.

Incredible, as usual, Mark.
I agree the horns look very real, but the whole ram looks like it could just walk right off the board.
BillI'll gladly tell you how I do something. Just please don't confuse that with the right way to do it, and almost certainly not the only way..gif)

I remember that carving from the class as a work in progress at the time. I thought it looked good then, but now it is exceptional.
