Spalted Red Maple
The power company has been rolling through my area and over zealously butchering any tree within 15' of a power line. They skipped one house in my neighborhood, but I'm guessing the owners were home.
A red maple tree in front of an abandoned house had the street side of the tree just butchered off. I scored some nice spalted pieces.

Mike not spalted, Ambrosia Maple, beetle marks. Good score!

Re: Spalted Red Maple
You know, I think that they'd have skipped my property, too
. This would have been encouraged by a twelve gauge with a round in the chamber... Of course, if y'all don't want trees so close to your lines, then get them off my property. Oh, and if you bend a single blade of grass doing it, then y'all are in big trouble (Progress Energy's lines run right through the middle of my property).
