    Finally got a bandsaw

Been looking for a decent bandsaw for quite a while and spotted a 16 in, 2hp, Grizzly G1073Z on Craigslist that looked like it would fill the bill. I went and looked at the saw and saw it run and it appeared nearly new, which was verified by the owner. Although it is a 2002 model that is no longer manufactured, I decided to give it a try for the $200 asking price. I will have to replace the switch (about 5 bucks) and the miter gauge is missing (no big deal), but for a 16 inch saw with 7 3/4 inch resaw capabilities I didn't see how I could go too far wrong. Plus, there were five new blades that came with the saw. Going to Woodcraft Saturday to pick up a mobile base, then take a few hours to clean up, lube up and turn up the machine, and then give it a rip---so to speak.

    Sounds like a good deal.

If you are new to band saws, let me suggest that your first purchase be Lonnie Bird's Band Saw Book or Mark Duginski's latest band saw book. Amazon will have either. Both will help you with set up, alignment and blade selection. They will also help you to more quickly learn how to get the most out of your new tool.

I don't see a problem other than we need to call the Sherriff
Congrats on a steal! Might want to check the tires real good. They can deteriorate over time.
Instead of driving all the way to Woodcraft go by Woodcraft Bands in Vilas on 421. You can't beat his prices or service.

Thanks for the info Mark. I had no idea there is a blade supplier right here in my back yard.

Cool Re: Finally got a bandsaw

That sounds like a Super GOOD Deal!

Tires might need replacing... Urethane tires, if you can find them in that size, would be good.

    Congratulations!
    Have Fun! :-D

    Re: Finally got a bandsaw

Nice,am sure you'll get lots of use from it.

Look into the dust collection......because of price points, some equip leaves alot to be desired in this critical area.It shows up most on BS's when resawing.Any efforts that you make helping to get chip/dust extraction efficiency up,usually pays benny's.

We added an air nozzle, mounted to go up and down w/upper blade guide to our resaw BS.Its just shop air;run to a mini-regulator/ball valve mounted to BS frame, then rubber hose to nozzle.Where it gets adj to @ 10#'s or so(leaving main air line at 125).It makes a world of difference, good luck.BW
