shop spalted spalted maple

here's a few pictures of some plain maple that i spalted in the shop... i think they came out pretty good i think i let one board spalt a little too much, but overall i'm pretty happy with the outcome, it took a few months to get the board to spalt this much, but maybe if it did it a little different it would have been quicker... and these boards just came out of the spalting bin, so i'm sure they will look a lot different when i clean them up with a planer... just thought it was pretty interesting...

How deep does it go? I have had some accidentally spalt from poor storage and it was mostly on the surface; just getting a smooth face eliminated much of it. The flip side is that it was still normal strength.

I have some lightly spalted curly maple to spare if you need some, some of it is very wide.
