    spalted maple cull box WIP

this is a cremation urn for a cat. It was commissioned yesterday and started today hope to start finish process tomorrow while we got this good weather.
I only had enough material for 2 sides so I resawed it and laminated it to some plain mapleto get the thickness I wanted. it will be a lift off lid and I will be adding a ebony knob of some sort. the inlays and splines are bloodwood.

That's sharp Fred Was a lift off lid requested? Most cremation urns/boxes I have seen usually have a screw attached bottoms. You don't want that thing getting knocked over and spilling it's contents.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

they's culls of the culls! that was the end of one of the cull boards I used to make the MIL's table. the board was abut 2' long and tapered with bark on from about half way down the a point on the other end. [too pretty to throw away! the blood wood was from klingspore. it was marked as cull and marked way down. I got 2- 1x12's x8' for cheap because they were checked and warped and cupped and...... kinda like the sweet gums gonna look when it's dry. I bought it figuring on a few thousand pen blanks! I do want those boards you found too! just for the fun of it!.
