Biesemeyer Splitter
I have a left tilt Delta Unisaw and I purchased the Biesemeyer 78-431 splitter fpr safety. I am having some difficulty installing and wondered if anyone is familiar with this gadget. Two bolts attach this thing, one straight and one slotted for adjustment. After snugging up the two bolts, it looks like the splitter is displaced one whole saw blade width. (see photo) For reference in the photos, I have the splitter installed in one and removed in the other. Any ideas short of resizing the straight hole?

Re: Biesemeyer Splitter
Interesting, the reviews of it seem to indicate it's pretty easy to install and the instructions are easy to understand. I wonder if it's possible you got the model designed for a RT saw, and that might account for the offset. Despite ordering the right model, I could see the close similarities between the RT & LT model making it easy prey for a mix-up in the shipping dept

Honestly Honey, that will cost around$100$150$200, and I need a few more tools.

I agree with Dave. The first thing is to confirm you havethe right one. I checked their website and that is teh corect model for the left tilt. They have a pretty good C/S department and I sure they can help. I am sorry I can't be more help.

Re: Biesemeyer Splitter
Geoff, I have a Delta contractors saw, left tilt, I installed the Delta splitter, it's supposed to be a Biesemeyer clone but I've never actually seen one. Anyway the mount had 4 holes, I could only use two of them to get it to line up with the blade.

Re: Biesemeyer Splitter
I think the rh one would be opposite to this one but anything is possible. It is pretty easy to install. Access is difficult but I had it together in 15 minutes. Spent another 30 minutes trying to get the thing lined up. Have an e-mail in to Delta CS and, hopefully, I won't have to call them.

Re: Biesemeyer Splitter
I installed the Biesemeyer on my Powermatic when I had it. On the PM-66 it attached to where the original blade guard went and you had to grind off part of the blade guard nut.
It took me 15 minutes to install it and 3 hours to get aligned correctly. Once you get it close it may look right but when you rip a board it may bind (too close to right side) or pull away from the rip fence (too far to the left).
I was afraid to do the grinding needed at first, then said what the heck as I hated the original splitter/blade guard and never used it. Once you get it aligned and working correctly you will love it. Very convenient and easy to get in and out.
Good luck!!

Re: Biesemeyer Splitter
Travis,
It was very easy to install and the ease of operation is a great feature. The reason I only spent 30 minutes trying to line it up was I realized pretty quickly that I was going to have to drill a new hole either in the saw or the mounting bracket. I am not willing to do that yet so I guess I will wait to hear from Delta CS.

Re: Biesemeyer Splitter
I got the splitter installed but I can't say much for Beisemeyer's engineering approach. The answer I got from Delta CS was "loosen lower bolt and move around until splitter lines up". Sorta like poke and hope!!
Thanks for all your suggestions. This is a great place!!

Re: Biesemeyer Splitter
I can't disagree with you and for what it costs you would expect better. I used my precision adjustment tool on mine (hammer).
The only saving grace is that you will love the thing.
FWIW, the pawls ended up getting in the way on mine a lot and came close to removing them before I sold the saw.
