    Hi from Chapel Hill

Hey all, I just got word of this site from the guys over at Woodcraft. I am starting woodworking as a way to fix up my house. Most of my projects are done b/c I have some need at the house, built ins, shoe cabinet, etc. I've never worked with anyone else and I'm sure I must do some stuff totally wrong but most projects come out all right

My two recent projects were reef aquariums and stands for my office(cube) and to replace one a home.

Here are a couple of pics

Been about 10 minutes and two replies...pretty quick. The office tank is only 6 gallons, don't let the lack of scale fool you. Even the bigger tank is only 22"x25".

If everyone likes pictures I should go around the house taking snapshots of some of the stuff I've built.

Hey Wes & welcome! Those Tank stands are awsome growing up I always had a fish tank! Even the fresh water ones were alot to maintain I cant imagine how much care & work goes into a saltwater tank take plenty of pictures when you get it all set up so we can see!

Welcome to the website, Wes -- happy you found us and BBTW, your pics are superb -- the reef aquarium is beautiful (reminiscent of my younger days spent in the depths of reefs in the Caribbean). Great photos -- let's see some of your ww projects and shop, too!

    Welcome Wes,

I'm fairly new here also. You will find these are a great bunch of guys and gals. As somebody who used to have a saltwater tank, all I can say is, yours is amazing! Beautiful clown fish also. I look forward to seeing more of your tanks and your wood working projects.

    Re: Hi from Chapel Hill

Thanks for the great welcome. I post most of my pictures on my website, but I'll make sure I post some of the finished stuff here as well..once I take some pictures.

My shop is the spare bedroom in my little A-frame house. Don't have too many tools.
    Sliding miter saw
    Couple routers and a table
Festool circ saw - since space is small I use instead of a table saw.

I'll post some pictures of the shop/bedroom when I take some.

On another note to people get together and go over projects or techniques? I'm pretty sure I do alot of stuff in the longer and harder way just b/c I don't know any better. I've never seen anyone else work and I'm curious how others do projects. I don't want to drive hours anywhere but something in a surrounding county would work.

    Wes,

Welcome, very nice work! I used to have a reef tank for a few years and I ruined it by introducing fish from one of my friend's tanks (for mine to eat). His fish were infected with something and killed all of my fish and pretty much everything else. :icon_conf

You have one of those in your cubicle? NICE!

    Much nicer than mine :icon_frow

I really look forward to your input and seeing some more of your work!

    Trent;-)
