They look pretty darn nice to me.
I especially like the trough around the inside edge of the boards.
BillI'll gladly tell you how I do something. Just please don't confuse that with the right way to do it, and almost certainly not the only way..gif)

One is purple heart, cherry and maple. I use butcher block oil from watco. Food safe

Believe or not. Double facetape on both pcs, draw the line and use your bandsaw.
