This month's contest is pyrography, pokerwork, or fire needle embroidery. Yep, let's make some burn marks. How you gonna do it? Solid-point burner, wire-nib burner, or laser? Please follow the rules:

Rules:
-Must be created/completed within the last 36 months - here's a reason to sell the old and build the new
-One submission per creator/artist per category (month)
-Each creator can win a contest no more than once every six months.
-Members vote for winners so your submittal 'marketing' post should reflect quality. Each post is limited to 3 photos and 500 words. One post per submittal. Any Q&A regarding a submittal should be handled by separate post or DM, PM, or Start Conversation. I like the separate post because it doesn't clutter the contest thread, maybe preclude votes being biased, and everyone can share How's It Made with the forum.
-In case of a tie, a judge panel will make the selection. Judges decision is final. Judges will remain anonymous.
-Each monthly contest can have two winners, novice and journeyman/veteran/pro. Novice is defined as <3 years woodworking, cumulative. Journeyman is all others. Submitters must indicate if they are novice or they will automatically be journeymen; honor system applies. Yep, this is a bit convoluted and may be tuned as needed.

Contest ends 1/31/2024.

All right, Burn and Post (pictures please). This might get heated!

Ok folks, I really would love to see some burnings show up here. I’m not eligible because I’ve won within the past time frame. With that said I’ll toss out a pic that hopefully will inspire someone to enter this month.

Bump! Let's see what hot irons, lasers and wood can look like!
I'm about ready to show how I sign bowls and I know that is no winner, LoL!

This is the only wood burning I’ve ever done. It is by no means fancy, but it was effective for the intended purpose.

I built a crib for my first son and wanted a way to sign it. Being new to woodworking and this being my first project, I borrowed a cheap pyrography set from a friend. Couldn’t tell you anything about it or what kind of tip I used, but it worked well enough.

Crib is made from ash and is signed on the inside bottom of the headboard.

FYI, I very much hope someone has something better than this as this by no means deserves any kind of award.

I burned this wall hanging Sunday. The total burn time was about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The substrate is 1/8" Baltic birch plywood and the dimensions are approximately 9 inches high x 15 inches wide. I treated the wood with a Borax/water solution prior to engraving.
This bear started out as a pen and ink drawing that a friend of mine drew. The first picture below is of the bear in his sketchbook with an ink pen showing the dimensions of the drawing, which I have enlarged.
I cleaned up a digital copy and converted it to an engraving file in Lightburn. There were areas of the drawing around the edges were the lines needed to connected in order to convert to a black and white image.
I have also burned some smaller versions of this that are ornaments and magnets. We are going to collaborate and burn some more of his drawings.
