Steve has moved pix from the old site to our accounts here, however I have not been able to figure out a way to move them from my gallery front page into an album .

I thought perhaps the "Retrieve all images from a URL:" might work, but does not take any action: if I paste the direct link URL as shown under "Photo Details" to a single image (for example: http://www.ncwoodworker.net/pp/data/...5_dscf0420.jpg) , it will copy that image to the album, but if I enter just the path to the image directory from the above example no pix get transferred to the gallery.

One problem I encountered if I try to move a single image at a time that way, if the image name is too long for the path it can't be pasted in the box. I'm hoping there's a simple way to group these pix into an album; I had only created one album by the time the old site went defunct, so all the photos on my front page belong to the same album.

Thanks, John

As far as I know there is no easy way to do this, other than to change each pic individually. I went ahead and moved those pics for you -- let me know if everything looks OK.

Let me add to that a bit. First of all, PhotoPost has a big weakness in the area of moving more than one photo at a time. Even for an admin the problem is a PITA.

Also if I read your message correctly, even for moving one photo at a time, you were missing the correct method. Again, because of weaknesses in Photopost

Open the picture so you can see the full picture and all the details. Look near the bottom of the page click on "Edit Photo" Then you'll see a selection for "Change Category" Open the drop down box and select yourusername:albumname and of couse, hit the submit or save button, can't remember the name

Thanks, Steve,

Lack of clear, easy to find "Howto" documentation is still a big bugbear for many programs; this kind of "hidden" detail bites people now and then. Thanks for explaining how it works!

Thanks, John

Probably good that John posed the question so that other newcomers would get the info up front. I was about to post the question as well until I searched the How Do I forum and found the answer on page 2 in DaveO's reply to the post named Mass Move Photos Between Albums

There is one unfortunate consequence of moving pictures to a new or different album: It will break old links when those pictures were used in a prior post. If you reopen the post, you'll be greeted with the dreaded Red X and no image.

Rob, it shouldn't???? PhotoPost prides it self in never physicall moving the picture. The Link should always be the same?

Steve -- if you look at my original Wine Cellar Thread, you'll see the dreaded Red X's -- If you hover over the first picture, labeled Plan, you'll see it points to a picture http://www.ncwoodworker.net/pp/data/...lar_-_Plan.jpg or when displayed as a thumbnail , whereas that picture in its new sub-album is http://www.ncwoodworker.net/pp/data/...lar_-_Plan.jpg or when displayed as a thumbnail, it is I created a new album called Wine Cellar Project that is a child of my Projects Album. I edited each picture and reassigned the new album.
