Question

I am trying to upload a pic from my computer. I have successfully done it many times before. This time it goes through the whole upload process, and then gives me a message that there is no image to upload. I don't think that the pic is to large to upload, it's about the same size as others I had done - 2048 x 1536, JPEG, 2.46MB. I don't understand what I could be doing wrong. I had this problem with this pic yesterday and this morning. But I was able to upload a few other pics last night without any probs.???????

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

The max picture size is around 2MB. The one you are refering to is too large. The problem is a limitation in the software that won't tell you that it is to large. Sorry.

That's cool, it would be nice to know it wasn't gonna work before it went through the whole upload cycle. Any tips on how to reduce the size of the original picture??

Dave

Dave:
Before I upload, I use my camera's software (I've got a Kodak digital camera that has a software package called Kodak Easyshare that manages image transfers from the camera dock and picture organization into folders) editor function to open a picture I want to upload and then I use Save As and it provides an option to save the picture in various sizes (I usually select 50%) and then save the picture under a new name in a folder associated with my woodworking pics. Most other photo image software programs will allow the same thing or they will have a resize function. Then use Save As and save your smaller image under a new name.

OK, I tried to re-size the pic with Paint It. I was able to save it as a 1.6MB JPEG file, but I am still getting the same message when I upload the new file. Is that still to large? Dave

Dave, you need to look a the fine print in the by-laws for this site. It states: "Once your post count passes 1200 there will be a moratorium placed on your account that will preclude you from posting any additional photos until your reach 1500 post."

Seriously, I hope you and Steve can get it figured out because I always look forward to the photos of your work that you post. You do really great work.

Sounds like you have the Microsoft stuff, so you should be able to use the Photo Editor or Picture Manager to do what was suggested earlier. The Picture Manager program (comes with more recent versions of MS Office) gives you the "Compress" option under the "Picture" menu item. One of the options is for web pages. Might want to look into that.

Dave please try the uploading the version of the picture that is less than 2MB again. It should now work.

Thanks Steve, for whatever you did. It worked fine this time. Was it a problem with my pic, the idiot behind the keyboard or something with the site's program? Thanks again!!!!!

I made a small change which backfired. Everyone would have had the same problem when uploading pictures of a certain size or bigger in the last day or two.
