I agree with Tracy, it's FRIENDS! I've made many new friends and aquaintances here that I'm sure will last for life. Too many to name.

Another big plus for me is "knowledge" as I am a novice woodbutcher. There's more talent on here than any single place I've ever seen, including the "rags."

Finally, I really appreciate the way the site is kept "clean" and focused. Families can visit here without worrying what their kids may see.

Thanks to Steve and all the Mods and Admins.

Hmmm - 08-17-2005. That is the date I joined after having met Steve and heard his spiel and vision of this site. I used to be able to keep up with EVERY post EVERY day! Wow have times changed in the 3+ years the site became active.

I have found this site to be a source of information, laughs and ideas. Most importantly I have found a chance to meet a number of you through your posts and some "live" - and that has been a GOOD thing! I appreciate the friendships I have developed over the years and the chance to share projects I have done. I am a little bit shy about doing that as my things pale in comparison to what some of you have done. However - I have posted a few things and received nothing but encouragement. Thanks for that! (And keep your eyes open - I am gong to be posting some Christmas gifts I have made as soon as I get the last picture taken!)

Thanks to Steve and all of the moderators for making this a great site, a virtual woodworking club, if you will. And a special thanks to the members for making this such a great forum for all of us!

For me NCWWer is the definition of positive (or at least my thesaurus definition )

adjective
1) a positive response AFFIRMATIVE, favorable, good, approving, enthusiastic, supportive, encouraging.
2) do something positive CONSTRUCTIVE, practical, useful, productive, helpful, worthwhile, beneficial, effective.
3) she seems a lot more positive OPTIMISTIC, hopeful, confident, cheerful, sanguine, buoyant.
4) positive proof DEFINITE, conclusive, certain, categorical, unequivocal, incontrovertible, indisputable, irrefutable, reliable, concrete, tangible, clear-cut, explicit, firm, decisive, real, actual

Positively the friendliest and most sharing group on the web.

Oh yeah, Steve Coles is positively 'da man

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from too much typing.

Kidding My wife asks me all the time why I spend so much time with this site. To start it's a place where I feel appreciated. I have lived in NC for 8+ years and really didn't know anybody (go to work, come home, go to work again). Now I feel that I have a network of friends that I can count on if I ever need to. I have learned more than I have taught, and am becoming a better woodworker from that. And it's just plain fun. I rush home from work everyday and log on just to see what I might have missed. This site has become a great community, far exceeding the expectations of those involved with it in it's early days.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

I've been associated with many "virtual" communities over the years. I initially thought that North Carolina Woodworker was just going to be another one of those. It didn't take long to realize that this is a real, living, breathing group of friendly folks. The day after I joined, I was invited to the spring picnic where I met some of the nicest folks in the world. Since that day, I have continued to participate and meet more wonderful people. I find myself logging on from work and trying like crazy to keep up with what everyone is doing! While I'm home, I'm posting and reading until the wee hours.. I'm addicted . I can't help it... I dig this place! You folks are a blast to hang out with .

I want to say this and if I am out of line, well someone moderate me please!! The members make this site what it is and we all have Steve's vision to thank for that. Moderation is the (easiest) part of my accepted responsibility on this site. I know that along the way I, as well as the other moderators have upset some people with our decisions but, in order to keep this site the friendly place that it is we will step on a toe along the way, we will hurt some feelings along the way, and hopefully we will be understood along the way also. My point in all of this is that there is a wonderful sense of friendship on this site and to have that continue we must all do the following:
1) Keep it clean
2) Keep it civil
3) Follow Steve's site policies and always keep those policies in mind when posting.
4) Keep on having friendly get-together's regardless of the reason
5) Continue to help each other along the way
6) But the most important thing that we must all do to continue to enjoy the community that we all love so much is to have some fun and learn and make friends along the way. And if someone steps on a toe we need to forgive and forget and use the situation to make a FRIEND out of it!

Thanks for listening and this is what I meant in my earlier post in this thread. This site is FRIENDS to me!!!!!!!

This is by far the FRIENDLIEST site on the net, woodworking or otherwise.

I was in sales for more than 30 years and, as a result, was around many people throughout the course of the day. I retired 1 1/2 yrs ago and don't have contact with as many people as I once did. I miss that interaction. I joined this site in January 2006 but have become much more active since I retired. You guys and gals are filling a need for me. There are some great people here.
