Ok, so it's no Laguna or MiniMax, but I am very happy/impressed with it, and I haven't even gotten it fully tuned.

I got this on my front doorstep a week ago, and finally have it in my (tiny) shop on it's homemade mobile base with the riser block installed. Now it's time for a new blade!!!

And here it is at home in the workshop

Very nice addition - YOU SUCK!!!

Of course, I may be biased....I got that exact same model a few months ago Plenty saw in my book, no need for them expensive Lagoons or MiniMaxiPads

As far as blades go - if you plan to do any resawing, I recommend the 1/2" Woodslicer from Highland Woodworking.

I was thinking either the woodslicer or the timberwolf, but I hadn't nailed it down. Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried a 3/4" blade on this saw? I have heard mixed reviews on whether or not it would take it due to tensioning issues.

Marco - I had that same saw until last month and with the riser block installed I had put a 3/4" Timberwolf blade on it. It was a real pain to get the tension for that blade, but with the help of some pliers (to turn the adjuster), it happened and worked great.

I have the same saw, but without the riser block. I have run a 3/4" blade on it, and it did well. But I get better results using a 1/2" blade.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Marco, congrats on the new score! What is the first thing that you're planning to make with it?

Marco,

Bandsaw is the next big thing on the wish list. Your model is one I was looking at and heard good stuff about. It's not decided yet... and I still have to make the work area more of a shop and less of a messy garage. I'd love to hear more of a 'review' of the saw after you play work with it for a while.

I have a coffee table that I am making for a friend. She gave me free reign on the design, so I am going to use it to try some new things that I've never done before.

I'm looking to make it a sort of transitional piece, incorporating contemporary and traditional elements. I was waiting for the band saw because I want to use cabriolet legs on it. Here's a pic of the template I made to give you an idea:

Congrats Marco! I have that model too and have been thinking of getting the riser block. I've used a 3/4" blade with no trouble but then it wasn't as long as yours would have to be with that riser block installed.

Good luck with the new saw and don't forget to post pics of that coffee table as you go!!!

Marco,

Congrats on the new saw. Like DaveO I have used a 3/4 and 1/2 inch blade (timberwolf) on a 14 inch saw with riser block (a (shudder) Delta) and found the 1/2 inch to give at least as good results with a lot less bother.

I sure like all of that sawdust. Makes me feel at home.

Nice Marco and sounds like you've lined up a great project to try it out.
Good luck and
YOU SUCK!

Roger
BTW, I've not tried the Woodslicer, however I've found that the Timberwolf cuts great but wears out quick.
