Had to come home to address some honey-dos, but wanted to say there was a great showing of talent at today's Klingspor Woodworking Show. Some really nice work, and great demos.

I hope those I met will forgive me for forgetting their names but it was nice to enjoy a great breakfast and the time visiting while at show. I had a chance to meet Sawduster (aka Robert), catch up with Scott and several others - enjoying talking about scroll sawing and things.

BTW - congrats to Sawduster who scored a ribbon for his scrollsawn profile of what I believe is called American Gothic (farmer, his wife and pitchfork!)

If you see this in time, it would be worth a run to the store to see some of the pieces on display. Good job folks!

I wish I could have made it, I am busy trying to get caught up since my down time. I am sure I would have enjoyed myself. Maybe next time

Yes, Rick, you were there at breakfast. I have proof:

Well sort of - Rick is a dark lump on the left above...

I made it to breakfast. I had my kids with me and I did ask them if they wanted to change our plans and go to a store where they couldn't touch anything to listen to old guys talk about tools and wood.

I think they made the only reasonable choice...

I second that. It's great to see all these events, and the interest in woodworking. The entries were impressive, great looking tables, bowls, toys, cabinets etc. etc. etc.

I liked the variety of demonstrations today too. The turning is always good, but the scrollsawing was an eye opener! It's so simple! Just get a pattern and cut away everything you don't want. Or, as Robert put it, it's like sculpting an elephant. Start with a block of wood, and cut away everything that doesn't look like an elephant. Bill's dovetail demo actually has me browsing Lee Valley's site for a saw and jig....And there's nothing like seeing Doug TEARING away at a big piece of wood with a massive 3 1/4HP router making a delightful mess. Certainly all aspects of woodworking were covered (although we still need to do on-site lumber milling).

The door prizes were great too - I actually won something! And promptly forgot it at the store too.....So now I have to make another trip soon, "darn"

I think I'm getting sick though. I was there for quite a while, and there was a sale, and I didn't buy anything. There's just nothing I really want right now. I mean, I wouldn't say no to stuff, but I actually have what I need for my projects. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

It's called WGD remission. You need help quick! I would go buy something big, that should get you out of remission at least for a little while.

Not so sure about the "dark lump on the left" - but I am the light haired guy with his back to the camera. Does that still count?

To the honorable Douglas Robinson ( who also scored a ribbon )

Your dish was retrieved without incident and has subsequently been found to be microwave-safe after all

I feel sorry for those of you who missed Bas saying " hey y'all watch this ! "

congrats on the ribbons guys! Sounds like a fun day.

Bas - I think your "accidental" forgetting your door prize indicates that your WGD disease's remission will be brief! It's obvious the sale part you are allergic to

So does that mean he'll only pay "full price or nothing"?

Hey Robert - if the shot of me on the bike didn't break your camera, would you send me a copy? Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid that's what's indicated by his symptoms.

Sorry about that. I wish I could have made it on over; so close yet so far...

Had an awesome day just the same, though.
