All the Rockler items are gone from the Klingspor store in Charlotte and the normal stuff is back. I guess that marraige didn't work out. Feel sorry for Jim and the staff. They worked their hineys off tearing down and setting up all the Rockler stuff.

Word on the street is Rockler just didn't treat Klingspor like a real partner and did live up to the expectations Klingspor had for their customers. Now... that's just the word.

Last time I was in there (two weeks ago?) they were packing up ... so I figured it wouldn't be long.

Not really happy to see it go, but business is business. Klingspor has plenty of products based on their Raleigh store representing ... I'm sure the Charlotte store will fill back up again!

I was there last Sat. and they were resetting the store. I liked being able to pickup some Rockler items locally but also like the idea of the Charlotte store being more like the Hickory store in product.

What more could YOU possibly need from Klingspor for a while! After "stock the shop" you should be all set!

Word has it that Rockler scuttled the deal. They never made it into Raleigh store. Of course when Rockler was in GSO, I usually limited my purchases to what was on sale. Be nice when year is out, and they no longer has a physical presence in NC, and we can stop paying sales tax on internet sales. With the exception of their "in house" stuff, I generally find Rockler more expensive than other vendors.

Bruce,
I agree there prices were higher but have you seen there Black Friday ads. They have the Work Sharp for $149 and the rest of the prices are real good. The flyer has a 50% off coupon on one item of your purchase.I don't think it will be for mailorder though.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Greg

To the awesome customers in Charlotte and surrounding counties - yes Rockler is dead in our Charlotte location. Without going into major details, Rockler decided after agreeing to be partners with Klingspor not to be partners with Klingspor??????????????

If you noticed, we never really advertised that Rockler was there. Reason -As the shelves were being built, store re-arranged, employees working their tails off, and inventory stocked, labeled, etc. we got news that this may fall through. Many conversations later, the deal died. Rockler rewrote their Partner Store Program, upset almost every dealer that was a part of the program, then dropped a few - one obviously being Klingspor's Woodworking Shop.

We are just thankful that we didn't start the other locations as it would have been a disaster.

Anyway, Charlotte will be filling up with all kinds of goodies not found in other locations so keep your eyes and ears open for what is coming.......Sorry for any confusion and most importantly - thank you for your continued support at our Charlotte store.

fwiw...I would rather have Klingspor in Charlotte than Rockler any day. I know that doesn't help your recent problem, but I'm glad that it is Rockler that is backing out and you'll still be in Charlotte. I'm also glad that you are part of our board...

Chris

I agree with you on that. Klingspor has been excellent.
