Not exactly North Carolina Woodworker material but non the less a huge wood gloat. Big white truck from Calif. dropped this off this past weekend. 1949 Mercury Woodie, lightly customized with a modern running gear and AC. Not a show car, but a great driver that needs a little TLC; and I think I can handle that.

Cool! There is a guy on a local surfing forum who rebuilds and customizes cars like that. He is actually relocating from CA to here. I can get you his contact info if you're interested. Nice looking cruising machine!

Cheers,

Trent

Now that really is a gloat. Nothing like an old woody if you ask me. Those were neat cars. I helped a friend restore one a few years back.

It proves that I'm getting long in the tooth when I realize I remember it was not uncommon to see cars of that era on the highway. Getting older....well...it sure beats the alternative. Nice looking car, have fun with it.

I am sure that you will be the "talk of town" in that wee rig! Perfect for cruizin' N. Myrtle Beach in style!!!

Will it need much work?

Excellent catch and there will lot's of envious folks out there on the beach. I am sure.

How cool is that - What kind of wood did they come with back then? If I know Dino it'll be Walnut and Maple one of these days

Dino, I hope you will share more photos of that ride! Congrats man, you truly rock and roll! I have been to a lot of car shows, and I have never seen a model like that before. Great looking ride.
