I have some small projects I'd like to do which means resawing some 13/16 tiger maple and some 5/4 cherry to 3/8. Since I've never set up a bandsaw to do this sort of thing I was wondering if someone (who is close by?) would be willing to assist some night next week (except Wednesday night).

I'm guessing it might be wise to already have my Maple cut down to some approximate sizes I may need. I have a new blade as well, just haven't put it on the saw yet. My bandsaw is a Delta 12" although I'm not sure how much height adjustment I have.

I figure if I can get some assistance and get it in my head to have the confidence to cut these things within a good degree of accuracy I'll be on the road to a wooden antique car collection.

My only other option might be setting up a tall fence on my table saw and trying to get my 3/8 that way but I've never really trusted the accuracy or setup of the tablesaw for something like this.

How wide are the pieces?

I have cut 1/4 inch thick slices off of 5/4 boards 9 inches wide on the table saw, just had to take a hand saw and cut the center section out.

depending on how wide the boards are you may be asking a bit much for a 12" saw. I'm not familiar with that saw but it prolly doesnt have much HP. We could do it here. I have a larger saw that does 6" stock well but doesnt do so hot on 12" even though it has the capacity. after kerf you will only get 2 boards. 3 would be realy tough to do on the 5/4. 13/16 ?????? dont know bout that. no room for error or to plane after cutting. PM me if you want to go this route. be happy to help out.

I would be happy to lend a hand getting you setup on your bandsaw...... or you could stop by my place and I can walk you through on mine, principle is the same...your choice.
Resaw capacity is only a big deal if you need to do tall items. I believe I am only 20 minutes or so down the road...
