We were coming back from HD with a large load of plywood, pressure treated wood and concrete bags arguing about how much weight a 1/2 ton pickup truck was actually able to hold. As I turned up our street (which was on a pretty good incline) I gave it a little more gas than usual and next thing I know we heard what sounded like a bomb go off behind us. Yep, the plywood (with the pressure treated wood and concrete bags on top of it) had slipped right out the back of the truck and onto the street. The most embarassing part was all of my neighbors who came running out to see what all the noise was!

Man, I was WAY ahead of them, but due to the instantaneous fallout, I slowed down and made the illegal u-turn. I would've smoked 'em for sure. I've just gotten too used to zipping around town in my Honda and in the work truck (with no load). Sleep well Bas.
Thanks for the stories about similar situations. I think the most important lesson from this is not strapping in the load, that is common sense (now) , but to help out others who have made a similar mistake. Just take a few minutes (or hours in Mike Davis's case) out of your day to help someone.

Going away from a light in Sanford on 421 he was going uphill, hit a small bump, and the cylinder slid out-tailgate and all. Took it right off the back of the bed. Had to call someone with a forklift to come out & get it back into the truck. Tied up traffic for almost an hour! Last question he was asked before leaving the shop? " Danny, you want to tie that in?" "Nah, I'm not going that far". Famous last words!

Gonzalo Well I guess I should tell my story that happened two weeks ago Saturday. I picked up one on those WO diving boards (2"x24"x12') from Scott's to use at a scaffold to do a little paining over the stairs leading up to the 2nd story of the house. You know those diving boards are heavy... Scott, I and a tractor slid it into the back of my PU (tail gate up). Scott said to me something about strapping it down so it would not slid around. I looked at him and said well I don't think it's going anywhere, it's pretty heavy. Boy was I wrong...
On my way to FredP's I made a wrong turn and had to make a U-Turn in a intersection. As I did the diving board slid over and hit the side of the bed of my truck and darn near fell out. I pulled into some strip mall to work the board back over to the center of the bed. Here comes the law with their blue lights flashing. The nice officer gets out the car and said to me "You gonna tie that stuff down aren't you"? Yes Sir I responded. Good he said and get a red flag while your at it. Yes Sir I will do that... Come to find out when the board slide over it was sticking over to the passenger side and kind of teetering on the tail gate when I turned. I darn near took out a shinny new police car with that big old board. Needless to say the nice officer weren't so happy when he looked up and saw the end of a big old wide board coming twords his patrol car.
End of Story...
Moral, of the story? ( NO Ticket) but I did get a good stiff talking to, I 100% deserved it. Don't show face in Wake Forest for a while and get a box of red flags to keep in the PU from now on...
Thanks

I have a bunch in my truck from Lowes, and no matter how I attach them (tie on, staples, nails, etc.) they seem to rip away. I guess they're only made to go a few miles and not from Youngsville to Clayton via Rt.96 .gif) .
