Then I run into a problem, does anyone know what the threads are on the outboard side of the headstock spindle, on the HF lathe?
I found out they are monkey threads (LH)
I have metric tap and die, I also have SAE tap and die, but I dont have any LH tap and die never had any use for any.
If I know what they are then maybe I can buy 1 die some place

I frequent machine tool supplies catalogs from companies such as WT Tool. They carry a good many taps & dies. The only LH die they list is a 14mm x 1.0. That sounds a bit small for a lathe spindle, even a HF, being slightly under 5/8". Good luck. |

Its the inside threads on the outboard side, close to 7/16 somewhere in that area, and they might be metric

Which HF lathe is it?
If it is bigger than a 7/16 it will be a M12, M10 if smaller.. I can turn you one with the threads you need.
I will need to see it, I work in Wilson 301 and 117, I can stop by Sunday after the lumber run, and look at it. I have thread pitch gages to check the pitch..
Up to you..
