I have received them too and wondered the same thing. His projects and ideas look pretty good but I'm a little leary about downloading something that I didn't sign up for.

I only see a few actual plans on that site. The navigation of the site is a bit confusing - I think a lot of the pages are there solely to raise the search engine rankings. Many of the pages simply reference "plansnow.com" - which is a site for buying reprints of plans in Woodsmith, ShopNotes, and Workbench magazines. I've got most of the woodsmith and shopnotes issues - if anyone in the Raleigh area wants to borrow a few, just give me a shout.

I got that too. Hit me wrong and made me pretty angry. I see whoever it is though is cross-linked to Rockler, August Home Publishing, and Plansnow just to name a few. Quantcast has him listed also. I really dislike blind mailings from woodworking sites. I try to think they're a step above that.

<off my soapbox>

I don't think it has anything to do with you joining North Carolina Woodworker. I haven't recieved any emails and I'm certain Steve wouldn't sell our information to any spammers.
