Just set a bucket over the nest & put a rock on top of it. The next time your nosy neighbor comes over, He'll prob'ly kick the bucket over, at which point the little critters'll follow him home!

Oh, oh... I got 2 good stories, they won't help you with being environmentally friendly, but they sure will get you laughing...

First, I remember when I was about 13..(most all good stories start with that statement). My cousin and I were mowing grandma's lawn, we found a jacket nest. We immediately forgot around mowing and stared playing. We put buckets, rocks sticks... about anything we could find in the hole. The best one ( at least it was the most fun, but don't think it worked out too well ). We tied the push mower to a string and parked it on top of the nest for a while.. we had bees everywhere....

Second...
My boss came into work about 5 years ago and asked us how to get rid of a yellow jacket nest. He was from a large city, and this was his first experience. We told him to put gas on it. He did... about 2 gallons worth.....

By the way... what is the best way to find a nest? If you see some jacket's around the house? Is that a sure sign you have a nest close by? Or do they have a long range?

I HATE yellow jackets!

About 10 years ago I was doing some bush trimming along a fence. I felt the first sting on my wrist area and knew immediately I was in a nest. So I dropped the trimmer and started running towards the house. While running, I stepped in a hole and fell, bending my thumb in ways it wasn't meant to. At least the serious thumb injury helped take my mind off the stings. I probably only had about 4 or 5 stings, but had to wear a cast for about a month.

I truly believe if that whole scene had been videotaped, it would have won on America's Funniest Home Videos.

Nothing like the "wasp dance" to make neighbors laugh out loud...

I used to do a lot of grass cutting when I was younger. Yellow Jackets don't seem to like when a 52" walk-behind mower goes over their ground hives. Nothing funnier than seeing a mower running unmanned across the yard and the operator running in the opposite direction swatting wildly.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.
