Got up this morning to use computer. Went to the bookmarks- it was EMPTY! A couple years worth of bookmarks just vanished-gone with out a trace! Worked last night with no problem, but today IT IS GONE! Boo Hoo!

Bruce,

Are you using Firefox or IE. If you are using Firefox, chances are your bookmarks are still there. The are just under a different user. I had this problem several times before I upgraded to the latest version.

If you are using IE, stop.

Let us know which browser you are using ... there is a good chance they still exist.

It may be that your Windows profile got messed up and it created a new profile for you. You could try to just reboot and log back in to see if that resolves it. If not, we can guide you to the files if we know the browser.

Anyhow, about your bookmarks: as others have said, they are probably still on your PC but in a place that your browser no longer expects them. Also, I recommend Firefox wholeheartedly, anyone still using IE should strongly consider making the switch.

Just do a search to see if you can find it again

I too would recommend FireFox (www.mozilla.org). Then on top of that add the Google Toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com) .... then, you can begin using the Google Bookmarks. The benefit to these is that they are available in either browser with the Google Toolbar installed (in fact anywhere you go with that toolbar installed), and if you don't have the toolbar you can get them from the Google website just by logging in with your account. Pretty slick ... and FREE.

I've used these before too with much success. The Google Toolbar now has similar functionality built right into it for bookmarks and computer-to-computer synchronizing (with a few less bells and whistles)

So, here's my ignorance - can you restore your computer back to the day before and see if they are back>?

Well, that depends.

Depends on ... having backups (or restore points with data), know-how, and some good luck.
