Name: Steve City: Mebane State: NC County: Alamance Join Date: Jan 2007 Age: 52 Avg Visit Freq/Week = 1.63 over 30 days | Problem with going to most of the small outfits is that they're only open when I'm at work! I suspect that they made a decision (probably rightly so) to cater to the pros and contractors and leave Joe Homeowner to the BORGs.
Speaking of which, I do need to get to the local yard here in Burlington soon for some new Dreadful Masonite Siding that you can still get there. There's no way I'm going to re-side my whole house, so patching with matching stuff is the key. The BORGs don't carry such things. Steve

We go in with the masses of people I believe are there just for exercise and entertainment (I have things to do!). You ask an 18 year high school student for help with your project, (you have been there, I see). Well my advise is to search out to smaller places of businesses, do some planning, support your local businessman who is there and wants to really help. I also bet your project turns out better because of the quality products and great advice. Ok I step down from the wagon now, knowing the old days are gone and the worst is yet to come.
Here is a link to where the professionals go: http://www.littlehardware.com/home.html I personally would rather go to smaller locals, but that's not happening in Johnston county. I'm 4 miles from Lowe's, if all I need is a few items they are the game in town. Heck, to show you how little there is around, Johnston County has no bicycle shops. 695 sq. miles and no bicycle shops. This speaks in volumes of how many choices I have. But then again, I could always move to wake and deal with the insane drivers....NOT!
