Quick reminder or for those that did not see the original post. My son was T-boned by an 18 wheeler that ran a red light. He was driving a Honda Civic, not that you could tell that now. Other guy was ticketed and there were three witnesses. Left out the most important part, my son is just fine.

Was called today by the other insurance company. The driver and the owners of the truck have yet to call their insurance company. I filed a clain with them. The adjuster was really nice. He told me I might want to go ahead and let my insurance carrier handle replacing the car. I have State Farm. It appears all the information given the police about owners and insurance of the truck was false. According to the adjuster each driver must be listed on the policy for commercial insurance and this driver is not listed. Also the name of the owner if false. The adjuster is supposed to call me by noon tomorrow if he has any new info. Everyone he has tried to call will not return his calls, no answer. I even went to the police department and obtained a copy of the accident report and sent to the adjuster. He thought there might be some info that would help him

It is never as easy or simple as it should be or you think it is going to be. Calling a lawyer tomorrow. I was willing to be easy to get along with over this but if what I have been told is true I am going to hire the biggest SOB lawyer I can find. Fortunately we are in a position were we can just forget about it until a check shows up.

The other good news is I started to put the finish on my latest project today. I might even try to figure out how to post a picture.

Is the contact information for the truck driver correct? That is, did he have a valid license?

Halfblind,

First of all, I'm glad your son is fine. That's the important part. Now, go for the lawyer that will go after the SOB's. I would think the police would be involved if the information given them is false. Good luck.

My thoughts exactly. That is pretty odd. Give that lawyer a call and I hope your son is doing better!!!!!!!!

Had a similar - though not a s potentially fatal - incident occur 2 mos. ago. Does you son have uninsured motorist and/ or comprehensive coverage?. My driver didn't have his license with him but his registration checked ok with NCDMV at the scene and in Raleigh. When I filed a claim with his insurance company they stonewalled me & said there was no such vehicle on that particular policy. I had to turn it over to my company (Farm Bureau). The appraiser 'totaled' my Blazer & FB cut me a check including tag & title fees less my comprehensive deductible. Said I'd get the deductible back if they could collect from the owner (if they could find out who it was). They seemed very aggressive about making the other company or driver pay for the damages. Let the insurance companies pursue it as far as they will. Lawyers will take a great deal of your settlement money if you get them involved. If a company thinks you're going to sue they may settle for more than actual just to avoid litigation.
