First Scott (NCScroller) stops by to drop off some of Robert's (sawduster) wonderful Russian plywood (wonderful = top quality at a price even a Dutchman considers a bargain!). Thanks again guys!

Then Carolina makes an improbable comeback against Clemson to tie the game, then win in double OT.

Then while listening to the post-game show in the workshop, I sharpened a plane blade so well I was able to shave the hairs of my arm for the first time! Probably more a case of Accidentally Sharp than Scary Sharp, but hey - my cheapo Stanley block plane produced translucent shavings for the first time

I then decided to fill some holes & knots with a little two-part epoxy. I mix it all up on a piece of scrap wood, add a little sawdust - and knock the scrap off the work bench.....It lands epoxy side up!!!!! In your face, Mr. Murphy!

So, my apologies for all you folks entering the JET giveaway, but you guys have NO chance . I think I'll start planning the new layout for my shop tomorrow

yeah, that sounds like a really good day if you ask me. The only downside to Carolina winning at home is that I had to plan thew traffic egress for all the fans

So what's in store for the plywood??

Telling us about day that nice counts as an official Gloat. Congrats. And here's hoping you have more of them.

And they beat them without Lawson. I think they really grew as a team last night. Now if they could just learn how to play defense.

Let's get one thing straight here. My famous ancestor merely observed several phenomena of nature, and just like Mr. Ohm and Mr. Boyle and Mr. Pascal, offered the maxim and several corollaries as a warning to all of mankind. We of the Murphy clan are NOT responsible for these acts of nature.

You dropped epoxy. Head out the kitchen and drop a piece of buttered bread to see what happens, and remember, you've been warned by the best.

That reminds me of an idea I once read. You strap a piece of buttered toast to a cat's back (butter side up). Then drop the cat from a few feet above the floor. Murphy's Law dictates the buttered side lands face-down. But cats always land on their feet. As a result, the cat will start spinning, causing the cat to hover above the ground, generating an infinite amount of energy.

Add to that a 3-phase converter and you can power a lot of woodworking machines for cheap!

Jim,

I have the same issues with all those unthinking souls that add my name in vain -- "He's such a pa[y]ne in the a#@" -- but as least I get less grief than God him/herself.... And to think I could have been a proctologist....

Not even funny. My last electric bill was up over $250 from the previous month. Fortunately, I was able to convince CFO that it was the heat pump in the house. The current power bill is the highest bill in a single month we have ever had. I do think something was going on with the heat pump, but I am now thinking how much 3 phase power is really costing me.

We've had a few weeks that were pretty darn cold, so it's quite possible that accounts for the extra heat. You sure you haven't been running your auxiliary heat (instead of using the heat pump)?

Maybe it's time to get a generator, and make your own power......

Wot, you mean actually doing something with it? I was just going to look at it for a while!

Actually, I'm (very slowly) working on my first set of drawers (shop furniture). The 1/4" plywood will make perfect bottoms. That will take 10% of my stash, haven't figured out what I'm going to do with the rest. Don't care, I just like to hoard stuff.
