Does anyone know of a contractor who hydroseeds and spreads hay for a living in the Raleigh/Fayetteville area? I have approx 15 acres that I need to seed mucho pronto to keep the DENR folks off my back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have used this company many times on my projects.

If you can swing the Terra-seeding it is superior to Hydro-seeding.
Here's another listing that might be helpful -

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Geoff: I just finished "reseeding" about 14 acres of my place. I did it using a 6' sod drill owned by the county. They rent the drill to anyone for seeding/reseeding pastures etc. The cost is $10/acre. Of course, you have to furnish your own seed and a tractor to pull the drill.

Might be worth looking into.

Thanks for the info, Reggie!! Unfortunately, as my father used to say, I am at the point in my life where I am to light for heavy work and to heavy for light work!!

DaveO - thanks for the web list. I actually see the guy I used to use in Asheville is listed. Never would have thought that guy had the ambition!!

Ditto Reggie's recommendation - I just finished reseeding several acres of my hay pastures using a no-till drill from Southern States in Siler City.

The Lee County ag Extension Agent in Sanford has two of these drills - as I recall the price is about 8 bucks an acre. Add another 35 lbs of fescue seed per acre (at 60 bucks per 50 lbs) and you'll be in business.

A 50 hp tractor with remote hydraulics is all that's needed to pull the drill.

I'm not sure what the hydro-seeding costs, but you'd be looking at around $750 plus fuel if you opted to do it yourself using the no-till drill. Fifteen acres would probably take around 1/2 a day to do.

I found Ky 31 for $55/bag. I put it on at 25lb/acre for a total cost of $300. Fuel is negligable in my 50hp rig. Took about 6 hours.

My point is, if you can hire someone to drill it for you, you'll save money over hydro seeding and get the seed in the ground, vs on top.

My 4 cents worth. (Already had 2 cents in!)
