Fenced the garden against McRabbets and Bambis this year, so I have great expectations
You can expect me to arrive when they ripen and I do not share with Bambi!

Last year I was visiting Volker Bourneman's shop and his wife had about a dozen hanging tomatoes around the eave of their outbuilding. This year I went and bought one of the real hanging pots and then after looking at it, I made a home-made version. They look neat hanging around with tomato plants coming out the bottom.

So far got about 20-25 tomatoes ripening and lots of blooms still coming.

George

Here is a little sample of our recent bounty. I have to give the wife a lot of credit on this stuff too! I do the bullwork and she gives the TLC. I hope this picture attaches!
Good Lord! I had a time getting this picture up here... and I saw a guy build his own CNC router today. Quite humbling.

There... got it!

Brian you need to upload that picture to your album and then post it's properties from there. It's the easiest way.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Thanks DaveO... I'll try to remember that, again. For some reason I always seem to have to make 3 left turns instead of just making 1 right. It's scary to think that I'm playing with toys that have blades. At least the blades are sharp!

My maters here in The Great Northwest are green and marble sized. I planted them May 10 so the frost wouldn't get 'em.

Here are our tomatoes. We are finally getting ready to get some. Most of the tomatoes lower to the ground are gone. The count is up to nine squirrels. My husband actually started these plants from seeds: Juliet, Beefsteak, Burpee Burger, Parks Whopper, Beefmaster, and more. He started them in an indoor greenhouse and then moved them to a larger PVC frame (that we made) with growth lights. It was a fun experiment and I am looking forward to reeping (eating) the rewards!

Amy those are some nice looking maters if my wife seen them there would not be any green ones left.

So anyone plant any early girls this year - I'm curious if they do well around here.

Neighbor has deer jumping his 10 foot fence.

I placed a motion activated light on the side of the barn and it has solved my deer problem. We picked tomatoes for the first time yesterday. I have been using a BB pistol on the squirrels around the bird feeder but if they show up in my garden I am breaking out the real gun.

I prefer not to water the tomato plants. A half inch of rain a week is enough. Rather have them smaller and sweeter. To much water and they seem to split a lot.

Good thing my horses do not like tomatoes. Went down to feed them before leaving for the Charlotte shop crawl and found three horses roaming around in the garden. I have one walking horse that can open any gate latch made.

Wish I could figure out how to post a picture. That's my excuse and I am sticking with it.

Well I just composted the last of the tomato plants this evening the gave up the ghost - good riddens too - I don't think I ever eat so many tomatoes off 4 plants in my life. I think it was a bumper year Peppers are still doing well and I'm starting to get a little sick of them too - less of course my wife makes me stuffed green peppers

Here is southside VA, I got a lot of maters a couple months ago but an extended dry spell brought that to an end My garden is about done, I intend to profit from my mistakes next year. Since this is my first garden south of the Mason-Dixon, it has been a learning experience
